The Government of India has introduced three bills namely the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 and the Bharatiya Sakshya Bill, 2023 in the Lok Sabha on 11 August 2023 to repeal and replace Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and the Indian Evidence Act.[1][2][3]
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the three bills will be sent to a parliamentary panel for further scrutiny.
