Assam Rifles is only the Para Military Force (CPMF) under the Ministry of Home Affairs which has been defined in Assam Rifles Rule 2016 and various official documents of Govt of India.
Excluding Assam Rifles and NSG, only the following five forces which come under Ministry of Home Affairs have been considered as Central Armed Police forces (CAPFs) from March 2011 to avoid confusion. Before 2011 they were considered as CPOs since 01 Jan 1986. However, as per their respective acts they all are Armed Forces [1][2]
