Padmanabham is neighbouhood in Visakhapatnam and headquarters of Padmanabham mandal in the Visakhapatnam district in Andhra Pradesh, India. It is under the administration of Visakhapatnam revenue division.

Battle of Padmanabham[edit]
The Battle Of Padmanabham was fought on July 9, 1794, between the British, led by Colonel Pendergast, and Pusapati Vijaya Rama Raju II of Vizianagaram. The Vizianagaram forces were led by Raja Sagi Rama Chandra Raju of the Pandrangi mokhasa family. The Raja of Vizianagaram was found in arrears of paying annual taxes to the British as he opposed British governance over his principality. Earlier, the chieftains of Vizianagaram aided French and later British in conquering the neighbouring principalities. However, they later fell out with their foreign allies.

In 1802, Visakhapatnam was formed when the Northern Circars were split into five districts. [2]Srikakulam district was carved out of Vishakhapatnam district in 1950[3][2] Vizianagaram district was formed in 1979 by transferring some portions of Srikakulam and Viskhapatnam districts. [2]
In 2022, as a part of the raising the number of districts in Andhra Pradesh from 13 to 26, Visakhapatnam district was split into three districts – Alluri Sitharama Raju district, Anakapalli district and Visakhapatnam district.[4]

Padmanabham is located at 17°59′00″N 83°20′00″E / 17.9833°N 83.3333°E.[5] It has an average elevation of 23 metres (78 feet).
Padmanabham mandal is bounded by Bheemunipatnam mandal and Anandapuram mandal in Visakhapatnam District and Bhogapuram mandal in the Vizianagaram district.
Notable people[edit]
Great freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju was born in Pandrangi village in this Mandal.Rajasagi Suryanarayana Raju, MLA Bheemili from 1972-78 is from this Mandal. Also Rajasagi Appalanarasimha Raju MLA Bheemili from 1985 to 2004 is also from this Mandal.[6]
