Chandrasekharapuram mandal is one of the mandals in the Kanigiri revenue division in the Prakasam district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.[1]

History[edit]

In 1970, Prakasam district was formed from parts of Guntur, Kurnool, and Nellore districts.[2]

Geography[edit]

Chandrasekharapuram mandal covers an area of 573 sq km.[3]

Demographics[edit]

According to the 2011 census, Chandrasekharapuram mandal has a population of 44,953.[3]

The literacy rate in Chandrasekharapuram mandal was 54.23%.[3]

Education[edit]

  • MSR Junior College for Girls, established in 1992 at Chandrasekharapuram, is a Telugu medium institution for girls only, having facilities for teaching in classes XI and XII.[4]
  • Ushodaya High School established in 2006 at Chandrasekharapuram, is a Telugu medium coeducational institution, having facilities for teaching from class VI to class X.[5]
  • Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGVB) was established in 2008 at Chandrasekharapuram, is a Telugu medium, girls only institution, having facilities for teaching from class VI to class X. The KGBV schools aim to provide quality education up to class XII to girls belonging to SC, ST, OBC, minority communities and BPL families. to ensure smooth transition of girls from elementary to secondary and upto class XII. KGBV provides the facility to have at-least one residential school for girls from Classes VI-XII in every educationally backward block.[6][7]
