Talluru is a village and a gram panchayat in Prakasam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the mandal headquarters of Talluru mandal in Ongole revenue division.[1][2]

History

As per Gazettee No. 939, dated the 26 January 2022, the old Guntur district, formed in 1904, was split into Guntur district, Palnadu district and Bapatla district. 12 mandals from Tenali revenue division and 13 mandals from Prakasam district was merged into the newly formed Bapatla district. [3]

Geography

Talluru covers an area of 20.62 sq km. It is 38 km from Ongole.[2]

Demographics

According to the 2011 census, Talluru village had a population of 8,313. It had a literacy rate of 56.56%.[2]

Education

The following institutions are in Talluru:

  • Government Junior College, established in 1977 at Tallur, is a Telugu medium coeducational institution, having facilities for teaching in classes XI and XII.[4]
  • VK Government High School, established in 1948 at Tallur, is a Telugu-medium coeducational institution, having facilities for teaching from class VI to class X. [5]
  • Sri Saraswathi High School, established in 1997 at Tallur, is a Telugu medium coeducational institution, having facilities for teaching from class VI to class X.[6]
  • Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, was established in 2011 at Tallur, is a Telegu medium girls only institution, having facilities for teaching from class VI to class X.[7]
