Tripuramtakam is a village and a gram panchayat in Prakasam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the mandal headquarters of Tripuramtakam mandal in Markapur revenue division.[1][2]

History

Ongole district was created in 1970 with three revenue divisions of Kurnool, Guntur and Nellore districts. In 1972, it was renamed Prakasam district in memory of Tanguturi Prakasam, freedom fighter, chief Minister of undivided Madras state and the first chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. Presently (2023), it has 38 mandals in 3 revenue divisions.[3][4][5]

Geography

Tripuramtakam covers an area of 16.37 sq km. It is 42 km from Markapur.[2]

Demographics

According to the 2011 census, Tripuramtakam village had a population of 10,392. It had a literacy rate of 55.10%.[2]

Education

The following institutions are in Tripuramtakam :

  • Government Junior College, established in 1984 at Tripuranthakam, is a Telugu medium coeducational institution, having facilities for teaching in classes XI and XII.[6]
  • Bharathi High School Ambedkar Tripuranthakam, established in 2000 at Tripuranthakam, is a Telugu medium coeducational institution, having facilities for teaching from class VI to class X.[7]
  • Vignan High School, established in 2014 at Tripuranthakam, is an English medium coeducational institution, having facilities for teaching from class VI to class X.[8]
  • SBTK High School NSP, established in 2007 at Tripuranthakam, is a Telugu medium coeducational institution, having facilities for teaching from class VI to class X.[9]
  • Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, established in 2007 at Tripuranthakam, is a Telugu medium girls only institution, having facilities for teaching from class VI to X.[10]

Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) scheme was launched by the Government of India in August 2004 for setting up residential schools at an upper primary level for girls belonging predominantly to the Scheduled cast Scheduled tribe, other backward class, and minorities in difficult areas. It has gone through several stages of development.[11]

Samagra Shiksha, introduced in 2018-19 by the department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India, subsumes earlier introduced Schemes of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and Teacher Education (TE). It aims to support States in implementation of Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009; and other related schemes. There is a fund sharing basis between the central and state government, with a major portion being borne by the central government. By 2030, ensure that all boys and girls complete free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education leading to relevant and effective learning outcomes.[12]
