Dornala is a village in Prakasam district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the mandal headquarters of Dornala mandal in Markapur revenue division.[1]:16[3]

Ongole district was created in 1970 with three revenue divisions of Kurnool, Guntur and Nellore districts. In 1972, it was renamed Prakasam district in memory of Tanguturi Prakasam, freedom fighter, chief Minister of undivided Madras state and the first chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. Presently (2023), it has 38 mandals in 3 revenue divisions.[4][5][6]

Geography[edit]

Doranala is located at 15°54′00″N 79°06′00″E / 15.9000°N 79.1000°E / 15.9000; 79.1000 and is surrounded by Nallamala Forest.[7][8] It is located at 49 kilometres (30 mi) distance to Srisailam the famous jyothirlinga kshetram of 12.

Transport[edit]

The KG road passes through the village which connects the towns Kurnool and Guntur. Nearest Railway Station is Markapur road which is 32 kilometres (20 mi) away. Hyderbad city is 277 kilometres (172 mi) away by Srisailam road.
