Sheohar (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (Hindi pronunciation: Shivahar Vidhan Sabha Nirvachan Kshetra) is an assembly constituency in Sheohar district in the Indian state of Bihar.

Overview[edit]

As per orders of Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, 22. Sheohar (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Sheohar, Piprarhi, Dumri Katsari and Purnahiya community development blocks.[1]

Sheohar (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of 4. Sheohar (Lok Sabha constituency).[1]

1977-2010[edit]

In the November 2010 state assembly elections, Sharfuddin of JD(U) won the 22 Sheohar assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Pratima Devi of BSP. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Ajit Kumar Jha of RJD defeated Ratnakar Thakur of JD(U) in October 2005 and February 2005. Satyanarayan Prasad of RJD defeated Ajit Kumar Jha representing SAP in 2000. Raghunath Jha of JD defeated Anand Mohan of BPP in 1995, Diwakar Thakur of Congress in 1990, Bharat Prasad Singh of Congress in 1985, Jafir Alam, Independent, in 1980 and Thakur Chittaranjan Singh of Janata Party in 1977.[2][3]
