Riga is an assembly constituency in Sitamarhi district in the Indian state of Bihar.

Overview[edit]

As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, 23. Riga (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Riga, Bairgania and Suppi community development blocks.[1]

Riga is part of 4. Sheohar (Lok Sabha constituency).[1]

Election results[edit]

In the November 2010 state assembly elections, the newly created 23 Riga assembly seat Motilal Prasad of BJP defeated Amit Kumar of Congress whose father was a member of RSS and contested unsuccessfully as independent candidate from Bathnaha Vidhan Sabha since 1980 to 2005. In the 2015 Vidhan Sabha election Motilal Prasad lost to Amit Kumar who contested from Congress Party as common candidate of Mahagathbandhan.[2]
