Barauli (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is an assembly constituency in Gopalganj district in the Indian state of Bihar.

Overview[edit]

In the district and a part of the Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituency named Gopalganj, Barauli is a legislative assembly constituency of Bihar. The Barauli assembly segment is populated by 2,39,638 people who hold the adult franchise to vote in the constituency. There are 1,26,458 male and 1,13,177 female electors in the constituency. As per Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, No. 100 Barauli (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Manjha community development block; Mohadipur Pakaria, Dewapur, Sonbarsa, Batardeh, Sarfara, Nawada Chand, Kahla, Moghal Biraicha, Kalyanpur, Sarean Narendra, Belsand, Madhopur, Mahammadpur Nilami, Bagheji, Bishunpura, Larauli gram panchayats and Barauli (NA) of Barauli CD Block.[1]

Barauli (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 17 Gopalganj (Lok Sabha constituency) (SC).[1]

Election results[edit]

1977-2015[edit]

Again in 2015 Md. Nematullah of RJD came back into power by defeating Ram Pravesh Rai of BJP. This is the second time he won the election from Barauli by defeating the same opponent. In the 2010, October 2005, February 2005 and 2000 state assembly elections, Ram Pravesh Rai of BJP won the Barauli assembly seat, defeating his nearest rivals Md. Nematullah of RJD, in all four elections. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Md. Nematullah of JD defeated Ram Pravesh Rai of BJP in 1995. Dhruv Nath Chaudhary, Independent, defeated Ram Pravesh Rai of Janata Party (JP) in 1990. Adnan Khan of Congress defeated Ram Pravesh Rai of BJP in 1985. Abdul Ghafoor of Congress (U) defeated Adnan Khan of Congress in 1980. Abdul Ghafoor of Congress defeated Mohammad Rasool of JP.[2][3]
