Mumbai Mirror is a weekly tabloid newspaper in the city of Mumbai that was launched and published on a daily basis between 2005 and 2020 by the Times of India Group.[1] The paper was sold off to the Bangalore-based Metropolitan Media Company Ltd, a subsidiary of the Times Group, in March 2020,[2] and was converted into a weekly publication in December of the same year.[3]
The Times of India company said that they had to let go off Mumbai Mirror so it could cease daily publication and be re-launched as a weekly because of the economic pressures of the downturn and the losses incurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[4] However, many media critics have speculated that there is a more complex competitive economics at play within the Times Group that led to the move.[5]
The paper used to have a daily circulation of approximately 700,000 copies.[6]
