The Pink Line of the Jaipur Metro is part of the rapid transit system in the city of Jaipur, India. It is also called East-West Corridor of Jaipur.[1] It consists of 11 metro stations from Mansarovar in the West to Badi Chaupar in the East. The line with a length of 11.97 kilometers (7.44 mi) is mostly elevated and partially underground and has been laid to connect the oldest part of Jaipur to rest of it.

This is the Metro line that got flagged off on 3 June 2015, and has been named as Pink Line, as the line passes through the Pink City.[2]

The Pink Line connects the residential hub of Mansarovar with major intermodal transit hubs and historic landmarks across the city. It links with the Indian Railways network at Railway Station metro station, adjacent to Jaipur Junction railway station, and integrates with regional bus services at Sindhi Camp, where an interchange with the planned Orange Line is designed. On its eastern underground section, the corridor extends into the UNESCO-listed Walled City, terminating at Badi Chaupar to provide direct pedestrian access to major heritage destinations including the City Palace, Hawa Mahal, the Old Town Hall, and Jantar Mantar.

Phase-I B extension[edit | edit source]

Under Phase-I B, the Pink Line was extended further East from Chandpole station by 2.349 km. Two additional stations got built to extend the line to Badi Chaupar. The stations on this extension are:
1) Chhoti Chaupar
2) Badi Chaupar.

The construction of the extension was delayed following the discovery of an ancient stepwell.[5]

Phase 1C extension[edit | edit source]

For Phase 1C, Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) plans to extend the Pink Line from Badi Chaupar to Transport Nagar. For the same, the corporation had prepared a detailed project report (DPR) of Phase 1C. According to the DPR, the estimated project cost was ₹856 crores, including cost of land and taxes. The total length of the project was supposed to be 2.85km (2.26km Underground and 0.59km Elevated). This project was expected to be completed till March 2025.[6]

In March 2025, the state government halted the initial alignment via Ramganj Chaupar to re-evaluate tunneling routes and conduct feasibility reviews.[7]

JMRC subsequently finalized a modified alignment that eliminated the Ramganj Chaupar station to minimize surface disruption within the Walled City of Jaipur UNESCO World Heritage Site. Under the revised plan, the corridor extends underground from Badi Chaupar to a new subterranean station at Galtaji Crossing on Delhi Road, before rising onto an elevated viaduct terminating at Transport Nagar. Construction resumed on 5 June 2025, with completion projected for July 2028.[8][9]

The stations on this extension are:
1) Badi Chaupar
2) Galtaji Gate
3) Transport Nagar [10]

Phase 1D[edit | edit source]

Under Phase 1D, the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) is extending the Pink Line westward from Mansarovar to the 200 Feet Bypass on Ajmer Road. Prepared following public consultations, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) specifies a fully elevated corridor spanning 1.312 km (0.815 mi), featuring a single elevated terminal station at Ajmer Road along with a 0.357 km (0.222 mi) loop line for train turnaround and operations.[11][12]
