Chejerla is a village in Nellore district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. It is headquarters of Chejerla mandal
History[edit]
Nellore district formed part of the composite Madras State till 1 October 1953. On 1 November 1956 when the states were reorganized on a linguistic basis, this district came under the Andhra Pradesh State.[1]
In 1970 Prakasam district was formed from parts of Guntur, Kurnool, and Nellore districts.[2]
Tirupati District formed from a part of old Chittoor district and a part from old Nellore district on 4 April 2022.[3]
The name of Nellore district has been changed as Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore District on 4 June 2008.[1]
Geography[edit]
Chejerla is located at 14°31′00″N 79°34′00″E / 14.5167°N 79.5667°E.[4] It has an average elevation of 48 meters (160 feet).
Demographics[edit]
As of 2001 India census,[5] Chejerla had a population of 6,172. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Chejerla has an average literacy rate of 65.89%, less than the Andhra pradesh average of 67.02%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 57%.
