Venkatachalam is one of the 28 mandals in the Nellore district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

History[edit]

Nellore district formed part of the composite Madras State till 1 October 1953. On 1 November 1956 when the states were reorganized on a linguistic basis, this district came under the Andhra Pradesh State.[1]

In 1970 Prakasam district was formed from parts of Guntur, Kurnool, and Nellore districts.[2]

Tirupati District formed from a part of old Chittoor district and a part from old Nellore district on 4 April 2022.[3]

The name of Nellore district has been changed as Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore District on 4 June 2008.[1]

Venkatachellam is located at 14°19′00″N 79°55′00″E / 14.3167°N 79.9167°E / 14.3167; 79.9167. It has an average elevation of 20 meters (68 feet).

Venkatachalam mandal covers an area of 311 sq km.[4]
