Muthukur mandal (also called Muthukuru) is one of the 38 mandals in the Nellore district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. [1]It is located in Nellore revenue division

History

Nellore district formed part of the composite Madras State till 1st October, 1953. On 1st November 1956 when the states were reorganized on a linguistic basis, this district came under the Andhra Pradesh State.[2]

In 1970 Prakasam district was formed from parts of Guntur, Kurnool, and Nellore districts.[3]

Tirupati District formed from a part of old Chittoor district and a part from old Nellore district on 4th April, 2022.[4]

The name of Nellore district has been changed as Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore District on 4th June, 2008. [2]

Muthukur mandal covers an area of 227 sq km. [5]

According to the 2011 census, Muthukur mandal has a population of 58,003..[5]

The literacy rate in Muthukur mandal was 56.43%. [5]
