Vuyyuru mandal is one of the 25 mandals in the Krishna district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.[1]

History[edit]

Krishna district was formed by renaming Machilipatnam district and adding certain taluks of Guntur district in 1859. Krishna district was divided into Krishna and Godavari districts in 1925. During the reorganisation of Andhra Pradesh Krishna district was further divided into Krishna and NTR districts. [2]

Krishna district has 25 mandals spread across three revenue divisions – Machilipatnam revenue division, Gudivada revenue division and Vuyyuru revenue division. [3]

Geography[edit]

Vuyyuru mandal covers an area of 103.18 sq km.[4]

Demographics[edit]

According to the 2011 census, Vuyyuru mandal has a population of 76,703, of which males were 38,237 (50%) and females were 38,466 (50%).[4]

Literates in Vuyyuru numbered 55,856 and formed 72.82% of the population.[4]

Transport[edit]

National Highway 65, running from Pune to Machilipatnam passes through Voyyuru mandal, as shown in Google maps.
