Rampurhat is a town in the Birbhum district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is the headquarters of the Rampurhat subdivision and Rampurhat I community development block.

Demographics[edit]

As per the census 2011, Rampurhat Municipality had a total population of 57,833 out of which 29,611 were males and 28,222 were females.[1]

Literacy rate in Rampurhat town was 85.71%.[1]

Transport[edit]

Rampurhat Junction railway station has 6 platforms, 90 trains halt at this station, and it is the originating or terminating station for 19 trains.[2]

National Highway 14 passes through Rampurhat and meets National Highway 114A [3]

Rampurhat is on the Panagarh–Morgram Highway. The Dubrajpur-Morgram sector of the Highway is part of NH 14.[4]

  • Rampurhat High School For Girls, established in 1974, is a Bengali medium girls only institution, with facilities for teaching from class V to class XII.[14]
  • Rampurhat Railway Adarsha Vidyamandir, established in 1984, is a Bengali-medium coeducational institution, with facilities for teaching from class V to class XII.[15]
  • Rampurhat Jitendralal Vidyabahaban, established in 1957, is a Bengali-medium coeducational institution, with facilities for teaching from class V to class XII.[16]
  • Rampurhat Hazimoulabox High Madrasa, established in 1970, is a Bengali-medium coeducational institution, having facilities for teaching from class V to class XII. It is a recognized Madrasa.[17]
