The 2023–24 Indian Super League is the 10th season of the Indian Super League (ISL) and the 28th season of top-tier in Indian football. Fixtures until December 2023 were announced on 7 September 2023.[1] This season will have a mid-season break for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.[2]
Mumbai City are the defending premiers and Mohun Bagan Super Giant (formerly ATK Mohun Bagan) are the defending Champions.[3][4]
Changes from last season[edit]
It will be the first season where the promoted I-League winner competes, thereby increasing the number of participating clubs to 12. Punjab FC became the first ever club to get promoted to the Indian Super League by winning the 2022–23 I-League.[5]
As per the new AFC Club Competitions Ranking structure,[6] ISL clubs will not be eligible for a slot in the AFC Champions League; instead, the league premiers will qualify for the AFC Cup group stage, rebranded as AFC Champions League 2.[7]
Teams[edit]
Twelve teams will compete in the league: eleven teams from the previous season and one team promoted from the 2022–23 I-League.
