Sohan Thakur


Sohan Thakur (born 28 January 1980) is an Indian film and television director and casting director, known for Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo, Udaan, Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon, Rang Rasiya[1] and Savdhaan India.[2][3] He runs a casting company in Mumbai named Starways Entertainment.

Early lifeEdit

Thakur graduated from the University of Delhi. He was pursuing CA in 1999 and while assisting he joined a production house and started working for TV shows India's Most Wanted, Rishtey and moved to Mumbai in 2001.[4][5]

CareerEdit

Thakur began his career as an assistant director with Ashish Patil.[3] He worked as an assistant and associate director on numerous productions before his foray into casting direction, such as Kumkum, Sonpari, Shagun, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Dhoom for Star Plus and a Hindi film, Agni pankh.

He came to become a director but due to his accident he was immobile physically and started working as a scheduler in television shows Betiyaan Apni Yaa Paraaya Dhan, Saathi Re, Kabhi Aaye Na Judaai, Kaajal and many more till 2006.[2][6]

In 2017, he was signed to cast actors for a TV show based on the biography of Dayananda Saraswati, who was an Indian philosopher, social leader and the founder of Arya Samaj,[7] a reform movement of the Vedic dharma.[8][9][10]

In April 2021, Sohan teamed up with the film director Shraddha Srivastava and started a casting company, Shraddha Sohan Casting.[11]

ControversiesEdit

In October 2016, actor Reena Saini lodged a complaint against Sohan in Oshiwara police station for allegedly molesting and threatening her.[2][12][13]
