Shivshakti Point


The Shivshakti Point is a location on the moon near the lunar south pole where the Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander touched down on 23 August 2023.[1][2] The site was named on 26 August 2023 at the ISTRAC headquarters in Bengaluru.[3] It is located on the coordinates 69°22′03″S 32°20′53″E / 69.367621°S 32.348126°E / -69.367621; 32.348126Coordinates: 69°22′03″S 32°20′53″E / 69.367621°S 32.348126°E / -69.367621; 32.348126[4] and it lies between Manzinus C and Simpelius N craters.[5]

EtymologyEdit

Shivashakti is derived from the names Shiva who is one of the principal Hindu deities and Shakti, the divine feminine energy.
