Gokavaram is a village in the Gokavaram mandal of the East Godavari district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India.[2]

History[edit | edit source]

Rajahmundry district was formed in 1823 and in 1859 bifurcated into Godavari District and Krishna district. In 1925, Godavari district was split into East Godavari district and West Godavari district.[3][4]

The reorganisation of the districts in 2022 increased the number of districts in Andhra Pradesh from 13 to 26.[5]

Gokavaram is located at 17°16′00″N 81°51′00″E / 17.2667°N 81.8500°E / 17.2667; 81.8500, about 20 km driveaway from Rajahmundry Airport.[6] It has an average elevation of 45 meters (150 feet).
