Dr. Ashok Kukade was born in well educated family. His father Laxmanrao Kukade was a famous physician in [[Pune]], [[Maharashtra]]. His family shifted to Narayan Peth, Pune in 1952. He was one of the brightest students of his class. After his primary studies, he was admitted to [[Fergusson University|Fergusson college]], Pune. He was a gold medallist and University topper in [[Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery|M.B.B.S.]] course. After that he completed his [[Master of Science|M.S.]] in [[Surgery]]. Due to his childhood association with [[Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh]], he was inclined towards social work and patriotism. As a result, after completion of education, he decided to apply his knowledge to the benefit of the society, especially where there are very less medical facilities available. He came to [[Latur]] in 1966 with his wife Jyotsna Kukade (Also a doctor and social worker) and established [[Vivekanand Hospital and Research Center|Vivekanand Hospital]] on 4 January 1966, the birth anniversary of [[Swami Vivekananda]].
