Chagallu mandal is one of the 19 mandals in East Godavari district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is administered under Eluru revenue division and its headquarters are located at Chagallu.[2]The mandal is bounded by Kovvur, Nidadavole and Devarapalle mandals.[3]

Rajahmundry district was formed in 1823 and in 1859 bifurcated into Godavari District and Krishna district. In 1925, Godavari district was split into East Godavari district and West Godavari district.[4][5] The reorganisation of the districts in 2022 increased the number of districts in Andhra Pradesh from 13 to 26.[6]

Towns and villages[edit | edit source]

As of 2011 census, the mandal has 12 settlements. Chagallu is the most populated and Nandigampadu is the least populated village in the mandal.[7]
