It not only attends to locomotives housed at ED but to ones coming in from other sheds as well. It has four pit lines for loco repair. Locomotives of Erode ELS along with Arrakonam ELS and Royapuram ELS were the regular links for all trains running through Kerala and Tamil Nadu when widespread electrification of railway lines started in Southern Railways. Electric Loco Shed, Erode is one of the premiere engine sheds located in Erode in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located along the Jolarpettai–Coimbatore line, about 1 km to the east of Erode Junction, under the administrative control of Salem railway division of Southern Railway zone.[1]
Operations
