Puttaparthi revenue division is an administrative division in the YSR district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. Puttaparthi is the administrative headquarters of the division.
History[edit]
Sri Satya Sai district, with headquarters at Puttaparthi, was created as per the Gazette notification No.154 dt 01.02.2022, with parts of Ananthapuramu district.[1] It is named after Sathya Sai Baba, an Indian guru born in Puttaparthy.[2][3]
Geography[edit]
Puttaparthi is located at 14°10′07″N 77°48′37″E / 14.168497°N 77.810399°E.
Puttaparthi is 475 meters (1558 feet) above sea level. The climate is generally hot and dry, but some rainfall is expected in July–August and October–December. Puttaparthi is surrounded by undulating hills. Chitravathi River flows past the town.[4]
Administrative divisions[edit]
Sri Satya Sai district is divided into three revenue divisions: Puttaparthi revenue division, Penukonda revenue division and Kadiri revenue division.[5]
There are 8 mandals in Puttaparthi revenue division :[6] Bathalapalle mandal, Bukkapatnam mandal, Dharmavaram mandal, Kothacheruvu mandal, Mudigubba mandal, Nallamada mandal, Puttaparthi mandal and Tadimarri mandal
