The 18615 / 16 Kriya Yoga Express, formerly known as Howrah–Hatia Express is an Express train belonging to Indian RailwaysSouth Eastern Railway zone that runs between Howrah Junction & Hatia in India.

It operates as train number 18615 from Howrah Junction to Hatia Junction and as train number 18616 in the reverse direction, serving the states of West Bengal & Jharkhand.

According to South Eastern Railways officials, It will run with modern LHB coaches from 19 August 2019.

On the first International Day of Yoga, on 21 June 2015, Kriya Yoga Express name was adopted for this train to commemorate the contributions of Kriya Yoga master Paramahansa Yogananda in spreading yoga world-wide. This train had been instrumental in the life and spiritual journey of Paramahansa Yogananda.[1][2][3]

Coaches[edit]

The 18615 / 16 Kriyayoga Express presently has 1 AC First Class, 2 AC 2 tier, 4 AC 3 tier, 11 Sleeper class, 2 General Unreserved & 2 EOG coaches. It does not carry a pantry car.

As is customary with most train services in India, coach composition may be amended at the discretion of Indian Railways depending on demand.

Service[edit]

The 18615 Kriyayoga Express covers the distance of 423 kilometres in 09 hours 20 mins (45.32 km/hr) & in 09 hours 25 mins as 18616 Hatia–Howrah Express (44.92 km/hr).

As the average speed of the train is below 55 km/h (34 mph), as per Indian Railways rules, its fare does not include a Superfast surcharge.

Routeing[edit]

The 18615 / 16 Kriya Yoga Express runs from Howrah Junction via Kharagpur Junction, Tatanagar Junction, Muri Junction, Ranchi Junction to Hatia.

It reverses direction of travel at Muri Junction.

Traction[edit]

As the route is fully electrified, a Santragachi-based WAP-4 powers the train for its entire journey.

Timings[edit]

18615 Kriyayoga Express leaves Howrah Junction on a daily basis at 22:10 hrs IST and reaches Hatia at 07:35 hrs IST the next day.

18616 Kriyayoga Express leaves Hatia on a daily basis at 21:10 hrs IST and reaches Howrah Junction at 06:35 hrs IST the next day.
