Jadkal (Kannada: ಜಡ್ಕಲ್) is a village[1]in Byndoor Taluk, Udupi District, Karnataka, India. As per the census of India 2011 the total population of Jadkal Grama Panchayat is 7000. Jadkal Grama Panchayt consists of three villages: Jadkal, Selkod and Mudoor. The livelihood of the people in the village mainly depends on agriculture and fishing. The nearest railway stations is Mookambika Road Byndoor railway station.
Jadkal has a literacy rate of 60%. Some students quit school every year to work at the local fisheries and farms. The village has several primary and middle schools, and one convent schoo is there Sacred Heart Convent School, Jadkal. Most of the teaching is done in either English or Kannada.
Sacred Heart Convent School[edit]
The Sacred Heart Convent School[2] is located at Jadkal. It was established in 2003 and running under the aegis of Seraphina Educational. It is a co-educational school and offers education in English medium.
This village has one National Bank and two Co-Operative societies.
