ICAT Design and Media College is a college specializing in digital design and media. It offers full-time UG, PG Professional Program and Masters Programs of 3 years, 1 year and 2 years respectively, in collaboration with an Indian and UK University. The college has three campuses around South India: Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. ICAT Design and Media college formerly known as Image College of Arts, Animation & Technology.

History

ICAT was established in 2004, in Chennai. In 2008, the college established two new campuses at Bangalore and Hyderabad, India. In 2009, ICAT entered into a technical collaboration with Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu to offer BSc Multimedia and BSc Digital Media programs. Then in 2012, ICAT partnered with Birmingham City University, UK to offer UG courses in Digital Media. Later in 2013, the college collaborated with Bharathiar University to offer BSc and MSc programs that are recognised by the Government of India and comes under the purview of UGC.

Academic programs

ICAT offers Post Graduate Diploma programs in Design & Media. Also it offers undergraduate degree programs in association with Bharathiar University, Birmingham City University, Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University, Annamalai University, Bangalore University.

Undergraduate Courses

Undergraduate programs are offered as dual degree option Bachelor of arts [hons.] program affiliated with Birmingham City University and Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] affiliated with Bharathiar University based in Coimbatore. Students can opt for dual degree program or can also select single degree at a time, this gives the flexibility to earn a University Grants Commission approved program and also international degree.

Admission

Every department within the institute requires that applicants send in an artist's statement, along with a portfolio or audition (depending on the program) to be considered for admission. The school does not review an applicant's documents without consent of the applicant and does not consider an applicant's academic marks as part of the admission process but must complete grade 12 for undergraduate programs and a degree in any stream is required for postgraduate programs.

Campuses

Chennai campus

ICAT Design and Media College, Chennai campus was the first campus set up by Image Infotainment Ltd in 2004. ICAT Design and Media College, Chennai is located in Santhome High Road in Mylapore region, and also an annex of the campus is also located in Appu street. The Chennai campus is well occupied with industry-standard Production, Pre-production, Post-production facilities.

Bangalore campus

ICAT Bangalore is located Bommanahalli, Hosur Main Road, Bangalore. It was started in 2008 with the demand of more students from Karnataka applying in Chennai college.

Hyderabad campus

ICAT Hyderabad is located Near Kothapet Fruit Market, Kothapet, Hyderabad. Hyderabad being the hub for Tollywood (second largest film producing center in the country) become an ideal location for third ICAT design and Media campus. It was started in 2009, since then ICAT hyderbad have been number 1 college for design and arts education in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Cultural events

MIRAKI - the Inter-collegiate Cultural Fest held every in all the three campuses separately. Miraki features multi disciplinary cultural events ranging from music, arts as well as technology. Students from all over India come to participate. The one full-day event was rightly named as ‘Miraki’ (Meraki (Greek word) - the soul, creativity or love put into something) to convey the essence of creativity poured in from the participants’ inner self.

Sports

Every year each departments of the college compete with each other in various sporting events like cricket, football, badminton, and kabaddi.
