Requests for adminship (RfA) is the process by which the Bharatpedia community decides who will become administrators (also known as admins or sysops), who are users with access to additional technical features that aid in maintenance. Users can either submit their own requests for adminship (self-nomination) or may be nominated by other users. Please be familiar with the administrators' reading list, how-to guide, and guide to requests for adminship before submitting your request. Also, consider asking the community about your chances of passing an RfA.

This page also hosts requests for bureaucratship (RfB), where new bureaucrats are selected.

If you are new to participating in a request for adminship, or are not sure how to gauge the candidate, then kindly go through this mini guide for RfA voters before you participate.

About administrators[edit]

The additional features granted to administrators are considered to require a high level of trust from the community. While administrative actions are publicly logged and can be reverted by other administrators just as other edits can be, the actions of administrators involve features that can affect the entire site. Among other functions, administrators are responsible for blocking users from editing, controlling page protection, and deleting pages. However, they are not the final arbiters in content disputes and do not have special powers to decide on content matters, except to enforce the community consensus and the Arbitration Commitee rulings by protecting or deleting pages and applying sanctions to users.

The community grants administrator access to trusted users, so nominees should have been on Bharatpedia long enough for people to determine whether they are trustworthy. Administrators are held to high standards of conduct because other editors often turn to them for help and advice, and because they have access to tools that can have a negative impact on users or content if carelessly applied.

Nomination standards
The only formal prerequisite for adminship is having an account on Bharatpedia. However, editing the RfA page is limited to extended confirmed users, so editors without an extended confirmed account may have their RfA subpage transcluded by someone who is. This is due to the community deeming that editors without the requisite experience (500 edits and 30 days of experience) are generally unlikely to succeed at gaining adminship. The community looks for a variety of factors in candidates and discussion can be intense. For examples of what the community is looking for, you could review some successful and some unsuccessful RfAs, or start a RfA candidate poll.
If you are unsure about nominating yourself or another user for adminship, you may first wish to consult a few editors you respect to get an idea of what the community might think of your request. There is also a list of editors willing to consider nominating you. Editors interested in becoming administrators might explore adoption by a more experienced user to gain experience. They may also add themselves to Category:Bharatpedia administrator hopefuls; a list of names and some additional information are automatically maintained at Bharatpedia:List of administrator hopefuls. The RfA guide and the miniguide might be helpful, while Advice for RfA candidates will let you evaluate whether or not you are ready to be an admin.
Nominations
To nominate either yourself or another user for adminship, follow these instructions. If you wish to nominate someone else, check with them before making the nomination page. Nominations may only be added by the candidate or after the candidate has signed the acceptance of the nomination.
Notice of RfA
Some candidates display the {{RfX-notice}} on their userpages. Also, per community consensus, RfAs are to be advertised on MediaWiki:Watchlist-messages and Template:Centralized discussion. The watchlist notice will only be visible to you if your user interface language is set to (plain) en.
Expressing opinions
All Bharatpedians—including those without an account or not logged in ("anons")—are welcome to comment and ask questions in an RfA but numerical (#) "votes" in the Support, Oppose, and Neutral sections may only be placed by editors while logged in to their account.
If you are relatively new to contributing to Bharatpedia, or if you have not yet participated on many RfAs, please consider first reading "Advice for RfA voters".
There is a limit of two questions per editor, with relevant follow-ups permitted. The two-question limit cannot be circumvented by asking questions that require multiple answers (e.g. asking the candidate what they would do in each of five scenarios). The candidate may respond to the comments of others. Certain comments may be discounted if there are suspicions of fraud; these may be the contributions of very new editors, sockpuppets, or meatpuppets. Please explain your opinion by including a short explanation of your reasoning. Your input (positive or negative) will carry more weight if supported by evidence.
To add a comment, click the "Voice your opinion" link for the candidate. Always be respectful towards others in your comments. Constructive criticism will help the candidate make proper adjustments and possibly fare better in a future RfA attempt. However, bureaucrats have been authorized by the community to clerk at RfA, so they may appropriately deal with comments and/or !votes which they deem to be inappropriate. You may wish to review arguments to avoid in adminship discussions. Irrelevant questions may be removed or ignored, so please stay on topic.
The RfA process attracts many Bharatpedians and some may routinely oppose many or most requests; other editors routinely support many or most requests. Although the community currently endorses the right of every Bharatpedian with an account to participate, one-sided approaches to RfA voting have been labeled as "trolling" by some. Before commenting, or responding to comments, in an RfA (especially Oppose comments with uncommon rationales or which feel like "baiting") consider whether others are likely to treat it as influential, and whether RfA is an appropriate forum for your point. Try hard not to fan the fire. Remember, the bureaucrats who close discussions have considerable experience and give more weight to constructive comments than unproductive ones.
Discussion, decision, and closing procedures
Most nominations will remain active for a minimum of seven days from the time the nomination is posted on this page, during which users give their opinions, ask questions, and make comments. This discussion process is not a vote (it is sometimes referred to as a !vote, using the computer science negation symbol). At the end of the discussion period, a bureaucrat will review the discussion to see whether there is a consensus for promotion.
Consensus at RfA is not determined by surpassing a numerical threshold, but by the strength of rationales presented. In practice, most RfAs above 75% support pass. In December 2015 the community determined that in general, RfAs that finish between 65 and 75% support are subject to the discretion of bureaucrats (so, therefore, almost all RfAs below 65% will fail). However, it must be noted that a request for adminship is first and foremost, a consensus-building process. In calculating an RfA's percentage, only numbered Support and Oppose comments are considered. Neutral comments are ignored for calculating an RfA's percentage, but they (and other relevant information) are considered for determining consensus by the closing bureaucrat. In nominations where consensus is unclear, detailed explanations behind Support or Oppose comments will have more impact than positions with no explanations or simple comments such as "yep" and "no way".[1]
A nomination may be closed as successful only by bureaucrats. In exceptional circumstances, bureaucrats may extend RfAs beyond seven days or restart the nomination to make consensus clearer. They may also close nominations early if success is unlikely and leaving the application open has no likely benefit, and the candidate may withdraw their application at any time for any reason. If uncontroversial, any user in good standing can close a request that has no chance of passing in accordance with BP:SNOW and/or BP:NOTNOW. RfAs with not even the slightest chance to pass per BP:NOTNOW. Do not close any requests that you have taken part in, or those that have even a slim chance of passing, unless you are the candidate and you are withdrawing your application. In the case of vandalism, improper formatting, or a declined or withdrawn nomination, non-bureaucrats may also delist a nomination. A list of procedures to close an RfA may be found at BP:Bureaucrats.
If your nomination fails, then please wait for a reasonable period of time before renominating yourself or accepting another nomination. Some candidates have tried again and succeeded within three months, but many editors prefer to wait considerably longer before reapplying.

Footnotes[edit]

  1. Historically, there has not been the same obligation on supporters to explain their reasons for supporting (assumed to be "per nom" or a confirmation that the candidate is regarded as fully qualified) as there has been on opposers.

Questions for the candidate[edit]

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Bharatpedia as an administrator. Please answer these questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
A: Mainly administrative work is to have a look on articles for notability, if the article doesn't meet notability guidelines, article must be deleted on the basis of discussion or speedy deletion. Next, administrators have to protect articles from vandalism. If any edit war in any article it must be protected. That's the thing I am going to do here. And due to lack of insufficient admins many works get delayed, so i have to fix it. Probably I may reduce your work pressure.
2. What are your best contributions to Bharatpedia, and why?
A: I have created many valuable articles in Bharatpedia. And Iam autopatrolled. I have a great edit count in past 30 days next to WikiDwarf.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A: No, I have no conflicts in editing articles. And I have no any issues with any other users, it's going nice, If any conflicts or any issues with other users in future, I sort out them with talk. I didn't like any war with anyone. Thanks! I have nice experience with you guys!

Support[edit]
  1. I Support Dhaneesh Ram, because we need more experienced users as administrator. So we can have Dhaneesh Ram has Admin. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Muskan (talkcontribs) 13:10, 1 March 2022 (IST)
Oppose[edit]
  1. Adminship is not only protecting, deleting or blocking users, but also a burden. It can keep you occupied for several hours a day, distracting you from writing new articles. Since I also write in Bharatpedia, I have refused to apply for adminship since this would take away too much of my spare available time. Checking your contributions to Bharatpedia with a total of 467 contributions, there is no doubt you are doing a good job to improve Bharatpedia, but I personally think it's too soon to handle administrative work at this time. BellaCH (talk) 13:49, 1 March 2022 (IST)
  2. Dhaneesh Ram, you are doing a great job in creating new articles, but I'm sorry I feel you lack the understanding of BP:N and BP:V as per your AfC approvals including Satyam Srivastava which was a blatant hoax at the time you moved it to the main namespace. Ajay Kumar (talk) 18:17, 3 March 2022 (IST)
Thanks @Ajay Kumar:, Thanks for your comment. You mentioned, lack of understanding of BP:N, but I moved to mainspace based only of references that cited in article, but the article is not yet reviewed, so reviewing process is much important I think. And i requested for adminship for BP laggs many processes as of insufficient admins. So just i intrested to contribute as admin. But Iam ready to develop my edits much more. So please just convey me when Iam ready to become administrator. Thanks! Dhaneesh←Ram→ 19:50, 4 March 2022 (IST)

Questions for the candidate[edit]

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Bharatpedia as an administrator. Please answer these questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
A: Principally regulatory work is to examine articles for striking quality, in the event that the article doesn't meet prominence rules, article should be erased based on conversation or quick cancellation. Then, heads need to safeguard articles from defacing. In the event that any alter battle in any article it should be safeguarded. That is what I will do here. Also, because of absence of lacking administrators many works get postponed, so I need to fix it. Presumably I might decrease your work pressure.
2. What are your best contributions to Bharatpedia, and why?
A: I have made numerous significant articles in Bharatpedia. Furthermore, Iam autopatrolled. I have an extraordinary alter include in beyond 30 days close to User:WikiDwarf.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A: No, I have no contentions in altering articles. Also, I generally disapprove of some other clients, it's going great, On the off chance that any struggles or any issues with different clients in future, I figure out them with talk. I could have done without any conflict with anybody. Much obliged! I have pleasant involvement in you folks!

Support[edit]
Oppose[edit]
  1. My primary concern is related to Muskit's maturity and level of experience. It appears that Muskit may still be in the early stages of their journey within the Bharatpedia community, and their experience may not be extensive enough to handle the diverse challenges that come with an admin role. Admins play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and functionality of the platform, and it is essential to ensure that candidates possess the necessary experience to make well-informed decisions.
Additionally, I have observed that Muskit's focus seems to be rather narrow as well as some of his articles denied of lacking proper sources [1] , conflict with admin WikiDwarf[2]. A well-rounded admin should have a broad understanding of the various facets of the community, and their decisions should reflect consideration for the diverse needs and opinions of its members. If elected, it is crucial that an admin is capable of addressing a wide range of issues and contributing to the platform's growth holistically.
I want to emphasize that my opposition is not a personal attack on Muskit but rather a consideration of the qualifications and attributes necessary for a successful admin. It is important for Bharatpedia to have a team of administrators who collectively possess the skills, experience, and maturity required to lead the community effectively. Magadha Historian (talk) 15:04, 29 November 2023 (IST)
  2. I agree with Magadha Historian, and I think Muskit Gergous lack the knowledge of policies and guidelines. They recently incorrectly moved some pages and draftified Basudeipur which is a notable subject under Bharatpedia:Notability (geographic features) and apart from that they also moved Draft:Rohit Gill to the main namespace two weeks ago just after the submission was declined by WikiDwarf due to notability and sources so I don't feel they are a good fit for the sysop group. Maybe in future but not at this time, sorry. Ajay Kumar (talk) 19:57, 30 November 2023 (IST)
My purpose of talking is not to offend anyone, I am applying here to become an administrator so that Bharatpedia can be brought on par with Wikipedia. Muskit Gergous (talk) 9:25, 30 November 2023 (IST)
  3. As per above. Also, despite knowing the facts that Draft:Farhan Rana Rajpoot is not ready for the main namespace, Muskit Gergous tried to push the draft to the main namespace multiple times and was involve in move war with an admin. BellaCH (talk) 13:00, 3 December 2023 (IST)

  • I don't know why but Muskit engaged in a self-vote [3], leaving it unsigned vote in the name of admin WikiDwarf. This seems like a childish attempt to deceive Bharatpedians. Magadha Historian (talk) 20:35, 30 November 2023 (IST)
Now you are talking about me. My aim is to become an administrator so that Bharatpedia can be brought on par with Wikipedia and get it more and more in google search. This is my goal.Muskit Gergous (talk) 9:32, 30 November 2023 (IST)
I already explained everything . Please read my above comment .Magadha Historian (talk) 23:26, 30 November 2023 (IST)
@Muskit Gergous: You are doing a good job and we respect your dedication but please understand that the adminship is a very sensitive user right and it require a lot of knowledge and understanding of policies and guidelines.
