Operations[edit]

Being one of the major Diesel Loco Sheds in the Northern Railway zone various major and minor maintenance of locomotives are carried out here. It is the only shed in Indian railways till now which holds the WDP-1 class of Diesel Locomotive. Like all the other sheds DLS TKD does regular overhauling, washing and painting of locomotives.[4]

History[edit]

It was established in the year 1970 with a planned holding of 80 locomotives and initial holding of 20 WDM-2 locomotives. It got ISO-9001:2000 certification from ISO certification body Florida, U.S.A through Quality Services International/Jaipur July, 2003, as per the required Quality Standards.[5]. The shooting of the movie "The burning Train" was also done at this shed. It was shared by National Rail Museum - Delhi on Facebook in 2020 when the shed completed its glorious 50 years. [6]

Livery and Markings[edit]

Like all the other sheds DLS TKD has its own beautiful colour scheme of Diesel locomotives. The locomotives of this shed have "TKD" written in bold letters on loco's body.[7]
