Diesel Loco Shed, Alambagh, Lucknow is an engine shed located in Alambagh Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh in India. Like all the other sheds, AMV (LKO) does regular maintenance of Diesel Locomotives in Indian Railways. It is now rated as one of the most premier shed of the Indian Railways. It falls under the jurisdiction of Lucknow NR railway division of the Northern Railway zone.[1][2][3]

Operations
It was mainly a steam loco shed but it was converted into a diesel shed in 1988. Being one of the Diesel sheds in Northern Railway zone, AMV (LKO) does various major and minor maintenance including washing and painting of locomotives. It also holds some electric locomotives like WAP-1 and WAG-7. The shed has a water recycling plant which recycles 6k litres of water daily in washing of Locomotives.[4][5]
History
It was established in the year 1988 and the first loco homed in the shed was a WDS-6 #19036 class shunting locomotive. It was ISO certified in the year 2003 with ISO 9001-2000. In 2019 the shed received a cash award of 60,000 Rs. for the efforts to upgrade the skills and knowledge of staff and supervisors. [6][7]
Livery and Markings
Indian Railways allows all the loco sheds to paint the locomotives as they wish. AMV (LKO) also has a unique and beautiful colour scheme of Diesel locomotives.[8] AMV (LKO) has its own stencils and Markings on the locomotives. It is written on loco's front and back body.
