Vijay Chaudhary (born 14 April 1966 in Orai, Uttar Pradesh, India) is an Indian politician and member of the Bahujan Samaj Party.
Life introduction[edit | edit source]
Born in 1966 in the Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh, Vijay Chaudhary comes from a family, where many member are political leaders. His parents are Late Prem Shankar Chaudhary and Girja Chaudhary. Vijay great-grandfather, the late Lotan Ram was a freedom fighter and a member of the Lok Sabha from 1952-57. Due to bad health, Lotan Ram introduced his younger brother late Lachhiram Chaudhary into politics. Vijay's grandfather, late Lachhiram Chaudhary was also a member of the Lok Sabha from 1957–62 and 1984-89.
Vijay's uncle late Chaudhary Ram Sewak was elected as a Member of Parliament in 1962, 1967, and 1971 on the Indian National Congress ticket.[1] Ram Sewak also held posts like Health Minister, Foreign Trade Minister, and National General Secretary. Apart from this, the late Shri Chaudhary Ramsevak Ji was also a member of the Rajya Sabha. In 1967, the Late Ram Sewak was appointed a minister in the Central Government. Late Lotan Ram contributed to public projects like construction of the Bus Stand, Doordarshan Tower, and Railway overbridge in Orai.

Vijay Chaudhary married Yashodhara Dinkar, a teacher, and they have a son and a daughter.
Education[edit | edit source]
After completing his primary education in Orai, Vijay Chaudhary obtained a B.Sc in 1990 and Master of Arts in Political Science in 1992 from DVC College, Bundelkhand University, Jhansi. Vijay was a cricketer and a badminton player at the Bundelkhand level.[2]
Political life[edit | edit source]
Vijay started his political career when he successfully contested in the municipal council chairman elections in 2000 and won by obtaining 21,000 votes. Vijay was the youngest to win at that time. He devoted himself to public service from 2000 to 2005. In 2006, he once again stood for the post of municipal council election, but this time, his ticket was cancelled due to some differences with the party. In 2012, Vijay supported his mother, Girja Chaudhary for the municipal council election in Orai. She won by securing around 29,000 votes. In 2014, Vijay Chaudhary contested the Lok Sabha elections from the Congress Party and got 87,000 votes. He had secured the fourth position in this election. In 2017, he contested the assembly elections on behalf of the BSP[3] party, got 57,000 votes, and secured the third position. After this, Vijay's hard work paid off in 2023 when his mother, Girja Chaudhary, won the municipal council election.
Social work[edit | edit source]
In Orai, Vijay has taken up many public works like the Ram Kund, a clock tower and town hall, the expansion of the PWD road, the construction of Karmer Road and Station Road, and the construction of dividers. Vijay also got those roads constructed in Orai. Vijay built a marriage hall at the Konch bus stand in Orai, specially for the use of the less privileged, who can avail all the necessary facilities for just Rs 10,000. Vijay also organised Orai Mahotsav and Jalaun Mahotsav in 2004 for the public. He did outreach during the COVID-19 pandemic.
