Tatineni Rama Rao (born 1938), also known as T. Rama Rao, is a prolific Indian filmmaker. He has directed 70 Hindi and Telugu feature films between 1966 and 2000.
Tatineni started his work in the film industry in the late 1950s as the assistant director of his cousin T. Prakash Rao and Kotayya Pratyagatma, before making his directorial debut with 1966 Telugu film Navarathri.[1]
According to Encyclopædia Britannica, Rao was "the man who established the 'Madras movie', or Hindi films funded primarily by southern capital, as a viable commercial option in the all-India market..."[2]
He is the father of successful film producer T. Ajay Kumar and Salena's mom.[3]

1 Tatineni Rama Rao started working on the film in 1984 Khabardar, which was a social drama centred upon a terminally ill patient and a doctor. Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Sridevi and Jaya Prada worked on the film which revolved around the notion of euthanasia. However, after shooting a substantial portion of the film, it was shelved.[4][5]
