Ramayana: Part 2 is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language epic fantasy film directed by Nitesh Tiwari. Serving as the sequel to Ramayana: Part 1 (2026), it is the second installment in a two-part cinematic adaptation of the ancient Indian Sanskrit epic, the Ramayana. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Ravi Dubey, Amitabh Bachchan, Sunny Deol, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Vivek Oberoi, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Kunal Kapoor, Sheeba Chaddha and Indira Krishnan.[3]

Principal photography commenced in March 2026, with a planned theatrical release in October 2027.

Plot[edit | edit source]

Ramayana: Part 2 is expected to cover the latter half of the epic, including the search for Sita in Lanka, the construction of the Rama Setu, the war between Rama's vanara army and Ravana's forces, the climactic battle between Rama and Ravana, Sita's Agni Pariksha, and the protagonists' return to Ayodhya.

Development[edit | edit source]

The film was officially confirmed as a two-part project in April 2024.[4]

Filming[edit | edit source]

While shooting for first part was wrapped by July 2025,[5] principal photography for second part began in March 2026 in Mumbai.[6][7] The shooting for the second part was mainly delayed due to Kapoor's prior commitments to Love and War and Yash's commitments to Toxic.[8][9]

Visual Effects[edit | edit source]

Oscar-winning studio DNEG was confirmed as the lead VFX partner in April 2024. The studio aims to create a "visually spectacular and immersive interpretation" of the epic, leveraging advanced technology for mythical creatures, divine realms, and large-scale battles.[10]

Release[edit | edit source]

Ramayana: Part 2 is scheduled for release on October 22, 2027 (Diwali week), following Part 1's Diwali 2026 release.[11] In July 2026, Dharma Productions acquired distribution rights to both parts of the film for around ₹250 crore.[12] Sony Pictures Entertainment acquired the overseas distribution rights of both parts.[13]
