Manasa Sarovara (Kannada: ಮಾನಸ ಸರೋವರ) is a 1982 Kannada language Indian film directed by Puttanna Kanagal and starring Srinath, Padmavasanthi, and Ramakrishna. Plot[edit]
Dr. Anand is shown to be a married middle-aged psychiatrist who realizes that his married life has no happiness or peace, his wife soon leaves him.
After returning to his village in an attempt to find peace and happiness through the management of his estate, Anand meets Vasanthi on the road, scaring passersby by stoning any man she meets. As he seeks to understand her behavior, the psychiatrist meets her brother who reveals that Vasanthi's lover had left her, leading her to attempt suicide and develop a deep hatred for men.
The family agrees to Anand's request to take Vasanthi away so she can live with him as he attempts to cure her. The change in environment and loving care allow Vasanthi to gradually recover from her trauma and, during the course of treatment, Anand falls in love with her. He decides to marry her, but he first needs to leave her behind so he can attend a series of seminars. During his two-month absence, Anand's nephew arrives and fascinates Vasanthi, who falls in love with him. Upon his return, Dr. Anand sees that her affections have moved onto his nephew. His heartbreak leads him to lose his own sanity, leaving Dr. Anand in a state akin to that of Vasanthi when he first met her.
