Jishnu as Kuruvilla in Rebecca Uthup Kizhakkemala

Jishnu Raghavan (23 April 1979 – 25 March 2016) was an Indian actor who had worked in Malayalam Cinema. He had first appeared as a child artist in the 1987 film Kilipattu[1] directed by his father and it was selected for the Indian Panorama. He made his acting debut in Malayalam cinema as a lead in the film Nammal[2][3] in 2002 alongside newcomer Sidharth Bharathan, Bhavana and Renuka Menon[4] directed by Kamal which turned out to be a commercial success gaining him recognition. His performance in the film won him the Kerala Film Critics Award[5] and the Mathrubhumi Film Awards[6] for Best Debut Male. His career followed up with lead roles in Valathottu Thirinjal Nalamathe Veedu, Choonda, Freedom, Parayam, Two Wheeler and Njaan. He then played supportive parts in Nerariyan CBI,[7][8] Pauran,[9] Yugapurushan[10] and negative role in Chakkara Muthu[11] along with Dileep.[12][13][14][15]

Along with a few uncredited films, he took a break from the film industry to work on developing Information Technology in rural areas. He later returned to the film industry and did supportive roles in Nidra,[16][17] Ordinary,[18][19] Banking Hours 10 to 4[20] and guest role in Ustad Hotel.[21] He was offered to act in Prabhuvinte Makkal.[22] In 2013, he played the lead roles in the films Annum Innum Ennum[23][24] and Rebecca Uthup Kizhakkemala.[25] He also experimented with acting at Barry John Theater Studios in Mumbai. In the same year, he signed his upcoming films Misfit alongside Sidhartha Siva, Indian Coffee House[26] and Iphone[27] with his father Raghavan and Vineeth, but these films did not release in theatres at that time he was diagnosed with cancer in 2014.[28][29][30][31]

During his first battle with cancer, his friends made a short film called Speechless.[32][33] It is about a college lecturer whose life is drastically changed by cancer. The short film stars film producer Shafir Saith, who is also Jishnu's friend, in the lead role. Before his treatment continued, he completed his Tamil debut as the lead actor in the 2015 film Kallappadam[34][35] opposite Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli and it received positive reviews.[36] He made his debut in Bollywood with a negative role in Traffic[37][38] which was released in 2016 and was his last film. He has also acted in the short film Karma Games[39] with Aadarsh Balakrishna, which was shot in 2013 and released in 2017. This was his directorial debut. Adarsh paid tribute to Jishnu by releasing this short film.[40][41][42][43]
