Macherla is a village in Palnadu district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the mandal headquarters of Macherla mandal in Gurazala revenue division. [1]
History
As per Gazettee No. 939 of 26 January 2022, the old Guntur District, formed in 1904, was split into three districts – Guntur, Palnadu and Bapatla. [2]

Macherla town covered an area of 10.26 sq km.[3]
Demographics
According to the 2011 census Mancherla town has a population of 57,290. It had a literacy rate of 71.13%. [3]
Education
SKBR Government Degree College, established at Macherla in 1966, offers various degree and postgraduate courses. It has 2,000 students. [4]
