The Runni Saidpur block lies in the southwest corner of the Sitamarhi district. It is bordered by the [[Belsand]] and [[Parsauni (India)|Parsauni]] blocks to the northwest, [[Dumra, Sitamarhi|Dumra]] to the north, [[Bajpatti]] to the northeast, and [[Nanpur]] to the east. On the south, it borders the Minapur and [[Aurai]] blocks of the [[Muzaffarpur district]].

It is located at the confluence of Mithila, Vajji (Licchvians) and Bhojpur region of Bihar. Most of the people are either Maithils or Vajji but their culture is deeply affected by Bhojpur also. Languages spoken are Hindi, Urdu, English, Bajjika (Vajjika), Bhojpuri and Maithili. The local people used to speak Bajjika which resembles Maithili, Bhojpuri and Hindi—a consequence of its location being surrounded by these languages. Sama is a famous winter festival conducted by girls for the pleasure of their brothers. A major cultural event  is the marriage ceremonies in this area which take much preparation and many cultural rituals. Balu Shahi is a famous sweet of this area. People here give much importance to their relatives and guests are treated very warmly.

The area can be called the wholesale market of southern Sitamarhi. The  balusahi (locals say balsahi) of Runni Saidpur is famous across India and is supplied as far as Delhi. There are many hotels and cloth shops around the area and also a cinema hall which mostly features bhojpuri films. There is also a big hanumaan mandir on the bank of [[Lakhandei River]] before the Lakhandei bridge.
