Konaseema district was one of the thirteen new districts formed on 4 April 2022.[2][3][4]According to the Gazette Notification No. 1156 dated 2 August 2022, Konaseema District was renamed as Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Konaseema District.[5]

Uppalaguptam Mandal has total population of 59,931 as per the Census 2011 out of which 30,285 are males while 29,646 are females. The average Sex Ratio of Uppalaguptam Mandal is 979. The total literacy rate of Uppalaguptam Mandal is 74%.[6]
