He was also the President of the [[Students' Federation of India]] West Bengal State Committee from 1973 to 1979 and All India Joint Secretary. Shyamal Chakraborty (5 February 1944 – 6 August 2020) was an Indian politician and was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2008 to 2014 from West Bengal.
