Yana Mir is a journalist and social activist. She is the editor-in-chief of The Real Kashmir News and the vice president of J&K Youth Society.[1]

Early life and career[edit]

Mir was born in Anantnag, Kashmir and studied MBA from the University of Mumbai. She belongs to a Srinagar based family, but later moved to Mumbai where she worked for a Hong Kong-based company. She comes from a Muslim family and during an interview with India Today, Yana revealed that she later embraced Sanatana Dharma.[2] Her grandfather was in Jammu and Kashmir police and uncle was a sarpanch who was shot dead by terrorists.

In April 2021, She organized first of its kind fashion show in Kashmir, stating that glamour aspirants from the valley deserve a local platform to showcase their designing, make up and modelling talent.[3] She has been commended for raising her voice for rights of displaced Kashmiri Pandits community in various tv channels and news debates. Before stating her career as a journalist she worked for a while with foreign airlines as a crew member.
