Velankanni railway station is a terminal station in Velankanni town in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. There is only operating 4 trains at this station. Trains are Chennai to Velankanni link express (daily), Vasco da Gama (Goa) to Velankanni (weekly), Nagapattinam to Karaikal DEMU (daily) and Nagapattinam to Velankanni DEMU (daily). It belongs to the Tiruchirappalli railway division of the Southern Railway zone in Nagapattinam district in Tamil Nadu. The station code is VLNK.[1]

It lies at the end of a 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) long Nagapattinam–Velankanni broad-gauge line. The foundation stone of the line was laid in 1999 and it was completed in 2010 at a cost of ₹48 crore (US$6.7 million).[2] The station belongs to the Tiruchirappalli railway division of Southern Railway zone.
