Un is a town and a nagar panchayat in Shamli district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

District create is established in11/04/2011.

Uon Block is established in 26/01/1955.

Shamali Block is established in 01/04/1962.

Kandhala Block is established in 01/04/1961.

Kairana Block is established in 02/10/1956.

Geography[edit]

Un is located at 29°35′N 77°15′E / 29.58°N 77.25°E / 29.58; 77.25Coordinates: 29°35′N 77°15′E / 29.58°N 77.25°E / 29.58; 77.25.[1] It has an average elevation of 240 metres (787 feet). Unn is famous for 'Shalek Kand'. Shalek, a notorious politician, was killed by the villagers.

Demographics[edit]

As of the 2011 Census of India,[2] Un had a population of 15,124. Males constitute 55% of the population and females 45%. Un has an average literacy rate of 58%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 69%, and female literacy is 45%.
