This family is one of the well-known families of Goud Saraswat Brahmins community, which has its origins in Kochi, Kerala, India.

Some of the family members were related to Manipal Pai (Tonse) family too.
They worship Shri Laxmi Venkatesh along with Kuladevata Shri Ramnath Shanteri Kamakshi at the family temple in Brahmavar, Udupi District.[4] The family had a site and houses built in it, and it is known as "Kochikar's Compound" near the Brahmagiri circle, Udupi.[citation needed]
