Tuipi Mate

Tuipi Mate village is one of the Mate chiefship villages situated on National Highway No.102 in between Tengnoupal (Mate) village and K.Zalenmuol (Mate) village on the way to Moreh, India. It is in the Tengnoupal tehsil of Chandel district of Manipur state of India.[1]

The People of Tuipi (Mate) Village are Christian by faith under the Mate Christian Fellowship Church (MCFC), Manipur, India. No school has been sanction by the Government of Manipur, department of Education nor under the Autonomous District Council, Chandel, Chandel District, Manipur. The Students of Tuipi (Mate) village has to go to attend school at Sibong Government School 10 miles away from their village or Moreh Town 20 miles far from their village. Mate Christian Fellowship Church has built a Church building from their own contributed fund, there is no community Hall for the villagers for their social and cultural functions. The Mate Tribe is one of the most backward tribal communities of Manipur state as this tribe was unrecognised for the last 70 years; however, the Government of India recognised the identity and distinctiveness of the Mate community recently by the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950 Amendment Bil: 2011 as a Scheduled Tribe of Manipur Vide the Government of India, Extra-Ordinary Gazette Notification No.02 of 2012.
