Srirangarajapuram is a village in Chittoor district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is the mandal headquarters of Srirangarajapuram mandal.[2]

History[edit]

Chittoor district was initially formed in 1911. At the time of Indian independence in 1947, Chittoor district was a part of the erstwhile Madras state. In the fifties Chittor district was a part of the newly formed Andhra Pradesh state and went through several changes. In 1985, the taluks of the district were reorganised. With the formation of Tirupati District from a part of old Chittoor district and a part from old Nellore district on 4 April 2022, Chittoor district consisted of 31 mandals across 4 revenue divisions.[3][4]

Electoral constituencies[edit]

Assembly constituency

Puttur (Andhra Pradesh Assembly constituency) was the assembly constituency till 2008. After De-limitation, Puttur constituency was dissolved and merged with Nagari (Assembly constituency). Srirangarajapuram mandal was separated and merged with Gangadhara Nellore (Assembly constituency).

The representative from 2013 election was - Narayana Swamy (YSR Congress Party) .

Lok Sabha constituency

Tirupati (Lok Sabha constituency) was the Lok Sabha constituency till 2008. After de-limitation, the constituency was dissolved and Srirangarajapuram mandal was placed in Chittoor (Lok Sabha constituency) and the representative from 2009 election was Naramalli Sivaprasad from Telugu Desam Party.
