Scientific European: Difference between revisions

Scientific European (also known as SciEu or SE) is a European popular science magazine covering science news and articles in all areas in science and technology. It reports latest research news and developments in science and technology to scientifically minded general readers.  

   

   

The idea of a ‘European’ magazine on line with the American science magazine ‘Scientific American’ has been lingering for some time following the Declaration on European Identity¹ during Copenhagen European Summit in 1973.  Apparently, some people in Europe thought of ‘Scientific European’ as an expression of European identity in the field of science journalism. According to Global brand data base², the title ‘Scientific European' was a French and International mark owned by Scientific American Inc. It was published as a periodical in 1990 from Heidelberg, Germany by Spektrum-der-Wiss.-Verl.-Ges³ to which Scientific American (ISSN 0036-8733) was a related title ⁴.  In 2005, Scientific European appeared as a blog⁵.  

The regular publication in print and online format began in 2017. The first issue⁶ was published in January 2018.
