Shiva, a 30 year old orphan DJ from Mumbai, who takes care of many orphan kids in his small house, finds out that he is an āstra (a type of weapon in Indian mythology) himself with pyrokinetic powers (abilities to control fire) and will have to stop Junoon, a disciple of the antagonist, from joining the 3 pieces of Brahmāstra (a super weapon) together, as it can destroy the world and can bring back the dark lord from dead.[6]

He is the son of Dev and Amrita, who were part of a group called Brahmānsh, the people who have been protecting all the āstras since many generations.[7] He meets Guruji Raghu (portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan), the leader of the present day Brahmānsh, who gives him training and tells him the story of his parents.[8] Shiva can control fire, can conjure weapons out of it, can't get burn from it, and is somehow connected to the dark lord. Isha Chatterjee (portrayed by Alia Bhatt), a 25 year old NRI girl, who joins him in his adventure of āstras, is his love interest and may wield Pawanāstra in future.
