Rocky Singh (born December 2) is an Indian TV anchor, food enthusiasts and author. He is known for co-anchoring the Indian Telly Award winning cult show Highway On My Plate on NDTV Good Times. Singh has also co-authored "Highway On My Plate – the Guide to Indian Roadside Eating" which was the best selling book that won "Best Celebrity Cookbook" at the 2012 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in Paris.

Early life[edit]

Singh belongs to a family of army officers, his father Major Amarjeet Singh Hundal fought the 1971 war and was martyred in action and his grandfather fought the World War II in Iraq and Burma. He was born at the Military Hospital in Jaipur where his was serving at that time.[1] He is a corporate trainer and an illustrious alumnus of Modern School, Vasant Vihar[2] and also attended Sriram College of Commerce in Delhi.[1] He is married to Rupali Singh and the couple has two children. He became a friend with Mayur Sharma in 1976 when he saved him from a bunch of bullies. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Singh disclosed that:[3]

I was walking down the street and I saw three guys beating up this skinny little kid. I saved him... and it turned out to be little Mayur, who followed me around for 2-3 years and suddenly became a lot bigger.

Career[edit]

After finishing college at Sriram College of Commerce, Rocky worked at an airline, ran his own restaurant and owned a gas distributorship.[4] He was also general manager of a Corporate training company in Dubai and served as the CEO in Miami, USA.[5] He co-anchored and scripted the 2007 weekly travel and food show Highway On My Plate along with his childhood friend and food enthusiasts Mayur Sharma.[6] He has also hosted two other shows on the channel NDTV Good Times, India's Most Haunted[7] and Jai Hind with Rocky and Mayur.

In 2011, he co-authored a book titled Highway on My Plate:The Indian Guide to Roadside Eating[8][9] which has been honored at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2011 as the Best Celebrity Cook Book.[10]

Rocky is an internationally certified consultant in HR and business process fields and runs 'Mindseye', a corporate training consultancy that he co-founded along with Mayur Sharma.[4] He is also a national level hockey player, state level soccer player and has boxed for Delhi.
