Parwaaz Hai Junoon (Urdu: پَرواز ہےجُنوں, lit.'Soaring is Passion'; Devanagari: परवाज़ है जुनून) is a Pakistani aerial combat-war romance film, marking the directorial debut of Haseeb Hassan. Produced by Momina Duraid with a script by Farhat Ishtiaq, the movie boasts a star-studded cast including Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ahad Raza Mir, Hania Aamir, Kubra Khan, and veterans like Marina Khan and Shamoon Abbasi. Initially, Osman Khalid Butt was also part of the project but had to exit due to scheduling conflicts with his film Balu Mahi promotions. A patriotic tribute to the Pakistan Air Force, the film hit theaters on Eid al-Adha (24 August 2018) under Momina & Duraid Films and Hum Films’ distribution. It holds the distinction of being Pakistan’s seventh highest-grossing film to date.

Critical reception[edit | edit source]

The film received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics. Shahjehan Saleem (Something Haute) awarded it 2.5/5 stars, acknowledging its "strong aesthetics and performances" despite script flaws. Abdul Waheed Bhutto (Review it) gave it a glowing 5/5, praising its visual appeal and the director’s portrayal of Pakistan’s beauty.

Omair Alavi (Brandsynario) rated it 3/5, comparing its execution to a "TV drama" despite impressive aerial sequences. Hamza Shafique (Dubai Desi) scored it 3.5/5, calling it a well-crafted film with solid performances but critiqued its "TV-drama-style screenplay" that lacked excitement.

The Oye Yeah editor offered cautious praise for its direction but noted a lack of novelty, calling the plot overdone. Asjad Khan (HIP) similarly lauded the acting while criticizing the script. Hamna Zubair (Images Dawn) delivered a mixed take, stating the film fosters respect for the air force but feels oddly "silly" for a non-comedy.
